Natural Honey Lemon Facial Scrub

By

If you’re fed up with paying high prices for facial scrubs that don't work, maybe you should get back to the basics and use the ingredients in your pantry to make a low-cost honey-lemon facial scrub that actually gets the job done.

Natural Honey-Lemon Facial Scrub

  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 ½ tablespoons of sugar

Mix the ingredients in a small bowl. Apply the mixture to your face (careful not to get it in your eyes), neck and chest using a gentle, circular motions. After massaging the honey and lemon scrub into your skin for 60 seconds, rinse it off with warm water and blot your face dry with a clean towel. Follow the honey and lemon facial scrub with your favorite moisturizer.

The natural honey-lemon facial scrub can be used on other areas of the body such as the hands, feet, elbows and knees. The ingredients contained in the facial scrub are all natural, so there's no need to worry about harsh chemical additives.

Honey is a natural humectant that attracts and retains moisture. Olive oil provides moisturizing benefits to dry skin. The gentle sloughing action of sugar removes dead skin cells to reveal fresh, polished skin. Lemon juice acts as a natural toner and bleaching agent to help lighten dark spots on the skin.

Can any leftovers be stored? Or do you have to make a fresh batch each time? Thanks for the great recipe!

This is one of those hubs that I bookmark for future reference. This is real good advice, I have a lemon tree, so I can do this often.

A winner treatment! I can't believe how much time and money I've spent on 1000-igredient chemical scrubs when this works so well and all the ingredients are sitting in my cupboard!

Best used after a shower or bath and soooo worth it, my skin has NEVER felt this soft before.

I can't wait to try this! I've heard honey and sugar scrubs were good for you skin and not I know exactly how to make one. Thank you.

Wow this works! My sister made it and I'll admit I was scared to try it cuz i thought it would ruin my skin but boyyyy was I wrong! My skin hasn't felt this soft in my entire life I'm gonna use this scrub every night! Can I store it and use it for later use? Or do I need to make it fresh each time?

Ymassar 20 months ago

I used this a couple times before a big event and every time I look back at pictures, my skin is just glowing and smooth.

Thanks for this great go-to recipe.

Sorry my phone has auto correction... I have bad skin... and this helps it... ive tried it for a few weeks already... I love it... and i intend to keep using it.

Amanda 17 months ago

Riah you can leave out the honey and maybe just use the olive oil. Amy, you really should just use sugar on this one. It is fairly inexpensive and will work much better than Splenda which is probably not going to give you the exfoliation benefits as effectively as sugar.

Zeph 16 months ago

@ Amy. I've seen lemon sugar facial scrubs that don't actually use olive oil. U can look up Kandee Johnson on youtube for her lemon facial scrub, she doesn't use olive oil.

As for splenda, I don't think it would work. The sugar is a very granular substance and for it to actually be a "scrub" you need that granular texture to help remove the dead skin. Splenda on the other hand is very powdery so you lose the 'scrub' element by replacing the sugar with that.

Good luck!

Do you think i can trade the lemon with lime juice instead?

Nicole 14 months ago

I've been using a lemon sugar scrub I made for about a month now. I made it with just using lemon, sugar, and honey...and lemme tell ya, my pore size has gone down, my acne cleared, my acne marks diminished dramatically, and my skin felt so soft. There never was a time where it made my skin dry. I did think that the lemon would dry me out, but nooo way! My sister tried it and it worked for her as well. Seriously, it's a natural miracle scrub!!! :) I recommend everyone to use it.

hey just wanted to know, do you have to make it with fresh ingrediants everyday or can i use the left overs and put it in the fridge???

Kate 9 months ago

Hey just did this and you're right my skin is soft and glowing! I love the feeling. I used a little more lemon juice and less oil. You probably don't need oil but the lemon juice really helps if you're like me and want to reduce some dark spots from acne scarring. Straight after I rinsed it off my skin went a bit red and I was scared I would be allergic but nope it's all good :) thanks!

worked great!!!!!!!!!!!! omg!

one you can try if u don't have olive oil and if u have sensitive skin is this:

-2 tablespoons of honey

-1 1/2 tablespoons of lemon juice

-1 tablespoon of baking soda (this will help for sensitive skin)

-1 1/2 tablespoons of sugar

what i did was put the honey in, then the lemon juice, the baking soda, then the sugar. it will bubble because of the baking soda but its okay. then just scrub it onto a clean face, wash off with warm water, pat dry and there! (: hope this helps too.(:

thanks -shannon

just made this scrub! It was super easy, and my face feels really nice! Thank you!

Andrea 7 months ago

I would worry about this if I was acne-prone. Which I am. hahaha Since you open up your pores and may cause some unintentional cuts on your face, the olive oil can seep in and cause more acne.

dear frens can any one suggest me how often should this scrub be done?? my skin is kinda sensitive..

DeeDee 6 months ago

I tried this yesterday and my skin feels really clean and smooth and not as bumpy. I recently had a major break out over half my face as a result of my diet and have tried a variety of washes and creams but my skin, after about 14 hours later still feels quite smooth. Because I am quite petite, I managed to use this over my whole body as a scrub and it was fantastic. And my skin is absorbing my moisturiser better too!! Will be using this everyday as a facial scrub and every other day as a body scrub. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS RECIPE!!!

body scrub use 5 months ago

you should not really use any scrub DAILY... "experts" say 2-3x's per week is enough, less if your skin is sensitive. exfoliation is for sloughing off dead skin cells. if you use scrubs too often you'll start to slough off healthy cells too leaving your skin red and irritated.

I tried this out just now today, after rinsing, it feels like my face is really heavy and oily. I hated the feeling when putting it on too, it's weird and all sticky. This was my first time though so yeah. Then i dried my face, i put moisturizer and now it feels normal. Don't really see a difference or feel different but i'm hoping it'll be better. I also applied it on my knees and elbows. I really hope it works there too. I noticed there's a lot of residue left. Like a lot. Maybe next time just use half of the measurements here :)
